Launch of child-friendly pop label
Zeamu Music, a record label producing pop music with lyrics appropriate for children aged 4 - 11 has launched. The team behind the label includes Jonathan Pilcher (Lana Del Ray and Athlete) and Grammy-nominated Owen Parker (Girls Aloud and Simple Minds.) Stephanie Watts of Hollymount School, London, where the first album was trialled, said that the children at school enjoyed the songs, which cover topics such as bullying and friendship.
Girls in gangs are most vulnerable children in youth justice system
A report by the Centre for Mental Health has revealed that girls involved with gangs are three times more vulnerable than others in the youth justice system. The report indicates that nearly 40% of girls in gangs had behavioural problems before the age of 12 and more than a quarter have suspected mental health problems. Thirty per cent had either self-harmed or were judged as being at risk of suicide.
Alliance seeks to help churches provide for additional needs children
The second gathering of the Additional Needs Alliance took place this June to promote the issues surrounding additional needs provision in the UK Church. Leaders Mark Arnold, Kay Morgan-Gurr and Rev Paul Nash helped participants consider ways to boost inclusion of children with additional needs and those going through bereavement or illness.
