Valentine’s Day rolls around once a year, but each year, the pressure on society – children included – to take part and spend money seems to get greater and greater. Immediately after Christmas, the shops are full of cards and cute little gifts. Restaurants advertise special menus at vastly inflated prices. TV adverts exhort us to do something special for our loved one this Valentine’s Day.
