Growing Together: Session 3 – Jeremiah

Meeting aim: To begin to understand how faithful people stay true to God.

Bible passage: Daniel 1

Background: This story follows a disaster for the Jews in the sixth Century BC; they were conquered by the Babylonians and their holy city, Jerusalem, was destroyed. Most of the Jewish people were deported to Babylon. The biggest prize for the Babylonians were the young men born to noble families, like Daniel and his friends, who would be useful in the Babylonian king’s court. This story begins with faithful Jews in exile in enemy territory, where even their own names were taken away from them.
