Youthscape’s Ruth Bennett, who coordinates the awards, said: ‘They’re often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Perhaps they’ve been quietly praying, catering, or driving a minibus for years. They never want recognition for their invaluable work, but we believe they deserve some – that’s why this year’s awards include a new ‘unsung hero’ category’. The Unsung Hero award joins the five existing categories: Youth Worker of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Best Youth Work Employer, Best Youth Work Resource and Most Innovative Youth Work. The award winners will be announced at a ceremony on Friday 21st November, taking place at the London School of Theology.
